The 纽约中部 Regional Perinatal Program worked very closely with the New York State Department of Health in the development and implementation of the Statewide Perinatal Data System (SPDS) as well as its prototype, the Regional Perinatal Data System (RPDS).

核心模块

核心模块, an enhanced electronic birth certificate system that is used in all 17 birth hospitals throughout the 14 county 纽约中部 Region. It provides each hospital with standardized quality-focused prenatal and pregnancy outcome information. This information is tabulated and reported locally for quality improvement purposes.

Data reflect a range of clinical measures and interventions, public program participation, demographic characteristics, and psychosocial and socioeconomic information.
Information captured by the Core Module includes, but is not limited to:

  • Maternal demographics
  • 付款人的身份
  • Entry into prenatal care
  • 早产
  • Adequacy of weight gain during pregnancy
  • 产前教育
  • Maternal risk factors
  • 新生儿的结果
  • Breastfeeding in the early postpartum period

Hospital birth registrars and QI staff generate standardized reports on a monthly basis. Record level data are available to specified individuals at each hospital via extract from a secure Department of Health website. These reports and data are used to monitor trends at the hospital level and improve the outcomes of pregnancies.

De-identified data from each affiliate hospital's Core Module sent from the New York State Department of Health to the Regional Perinatal Program are used to create aggregate data reports for comparison to:

  • Other similar hospitals in the region
  • Performance of the region as a whole
  • Healthy People 2020 goals

The Neonatal High Risk Module

The Neonatal High Risk Module, used in the 6 hospitals with (NICU) Neonatal Intensive Care services in the 纽约中部 Region, captures clinical treatment and outcome information on neonatal intensive care unit admissions.

Data reflect a range of clinical measures and interventions, public program participation, and neonatal outcomes.

Information captured by the NICU Module includes, but is not limited to:

  • Birth characteristics
  • Infant status on admission to the NICU
  • 婴儿的结果
  • Diagnoses and treatments specific to each body system

Specified individuals at each hospital generate standard reports. Record level data are available via extract from a secure Department of Health website. These data are used to monitor trends at the hospital level and to improve the outcomes of pregnancies.

The Obstetric High Risk Module

This module has not yet been developed for the Statewide Perinatal Data System, through a locally designed database. The Obstetric High Risk Module contains information on all maternal transports throughout the 纽约中部 Region. It is currently in use at the Regional Center.

Data from this module reflects:

  • Range of clinical measures and interventions
  • 转移状态
  • Maternal and neonatal outcomes

Specified individuals generate standardized reports. These data are used on a monthly basis for surveillance and quality improvement and annually for outreach visits to each affiliate hospital. Record level data are used to monitor trends at both the hospital and regional level and to improve the outcomes of pregnancies.
